Fulham are keeping tabs on Djibril Sidibe’s situation, with Marco Silva keen on reuniting with the defender he coached at Everton.

According to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, Fulham are eyeing a Bosman move for Djibril Sidibe in the coming days, as Marco Silva is keen to bring the player he once coached at Everton. The French full-back is mulling over the possibility of joining the Cottagers but has reservations after a dismal spell with the Toffees in 2019/20.

Djibril Sidibe was an integral part of Leonardo Jardim’s high-flying Monaco side that won Ligue 1 title in 2017 and reached the Champions League semi-finals. However, after that successful campaign, the team was severely broken up, as many players, including Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva and Tiemoue Bakayoko, left the French side.

Sidibe remained with the team as they gradually diminished in stature and departed on loan during the 2019/20 season. The full-back endured a difficult campaign at Everton, coached by Marco Silva then, as he struggled to find regular game-time at Goodison Park.

However, Silva is keen on reuniting with the Frenchman for the upcoming season and wants to sign the right-back at Fulham. The Cottagers gained promotion to the Premier League by winning the Championship last season. And the manager is eager to bring quality names to his squad in the transfer window to avoid a relegation battle.

Silva has a few names on his shortlist for potential new right-backs. However, his priority target seems to be Neco Williams from Liverpool, with Fulham likely to make a fresh offer for the 21-year-old Welsh international.

But with Nottingham Forest also in the race to sign Williams, Fulham are keeping their eyes open over other targets, with Sidibe emerging as a cost-effective option as he will be departing Monaco as a free agent. The Frenchman’s potential availability on a Bosman move appeals to the Cottagers, who have reportedly opened talks with the experienced right-back.

Sidibe is expected to attract more proposals in the coming days, and he could have plenty of options to consider. Fulham could be a good destination for the 29-year-old French international, but his hesitation in returning to England could play against the Cottagers.
