Premier League sides Everton and West Ham United are reportedly interested in Stephy Mavididi of Montpellier.

According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Everton and West Ham United are among a host of clubs showing interest in signing Montpellier forward Stephy Mavididi. Brighton & Hove Albion, Southampton and Marseille are also said to be interested in the English under-20 international.

An Arsenal youth product, Mavididi has been a journeyman throughout his young career, playing for Charlton Athletic, Preston North End, Juventus under-23 and Dijon before moving to Montpellier. The 25-year-old joined the Ligue 1 club in the 2020 summer window from Juventus, where he majorly represented the Under-23 side and made just one appearance for the first team.

Since his €6 million move from Italy, the English forward has displayed fine form for Montpellier, scoring 17 goals across competitions, along with providing three assists. In his first season with the Ligue 1 side, Mavididi was used all along the front-line but mostly on the left wing, with all his nine goals coming from that position.

He was used as a left-winger and a centre-forward in the recently-concluded season and he returned eight goals and three assists in all. This highlights his versatility, which could prove to be useful for whichever club ends up signing him this summer.

As per Fabrizio Romano, all the clubs have approached the player’s entourage over a summer move, and while talks are still in their early stage, there are ‘good chances’ that the attacker will move to either Everton or West Ham this summer.

West Ham are in the market for a versatile forward, with Michail Antonio the only recognised striker on their side. The Hammers wish to continue challenging for the European spots and are thus eager to strengthen this summer. And West Ham have been linked with Lille’s Jonathan David as well.

Everton, on the other hand, narrowly avoided relegation in the 2021/22 term and are fighting to stay relevant and chart a return to the top half of the Premier League table, at the very least. Frank Lampard is also looking to sign a centre-back with Burnley’s James Tarkowski on his transfer wishlist. As for Mavididi, a move to the Premier League could be on the cards amid interest from Everton and West Ham, among others.
