Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon is reportedly on the transfer wishlist of newly-promoted side Nottingham Forest.
According to Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold, Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon could leave the club this summer and Nottingham Forest are believed to be interested in him. Rodon is reportedly set to depart on a loan or permanent deal as he isn’t part of manager Antonio Conte’s plans for the future.
Rodon made just ten appearances for Spurs across competitions this past season, with his game time taking a serious hit following Conte’s arrival. The 24-year-old moved to north London from Swansea City in 2020 but hasn’t been able to become a mainstay in Tottenham’s defence.
Rodon has managed just 24 appearances for the Lilywhites in two seasons with the club. With chances hard to come by at Spurs, Rodon seems set to be offloaded this summer.
Nottingham Forest, who gained promotion to the Premier League by defeating Huddersfield Town in the promotion playoff final, could provide Rodon with a way out. The Welsh defender could benefit from manager Steve Cooper’s presence at Nottingham, who himself is Welsh and managed Rodon at Swansea.
The Swansea connection could come in handy for both the parties with Gold claiming that he would be ‘stunned’ if Forest don’t show serious interest in the coming weeks.
“I think there’s interest from Forest, certainly,” the Tottenham correspondent for Football.london said on his YouTube channel. “Obviously Steve Cooper was his former Swansea manager, Welsh as well. He knows him very well. I’d be stunned if Forest don’t show some real interest in him in the weeks ahead.”
Meanwhile, Tottenham are preparing for a massive summer overhaul. Signing a world-class defender, who can play on the left of a three-man backline, is on top of their priority list.
Conte is reportedly eager to reunite with Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni, who could be offloaded by the Nerazzurri this summer as they need to balance their books. The Italian giants will have to sell at least one big-name player this summer and Bastoni seems to be the one, but the player is said to be hesitant about a summer move.
As for Rodon, though, an exit from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is pretty much guaranteed, with a reunion with Steve Cooper at Nottingham Forest emerging as a possibility.
