Liverpool star Sadio Mane is open to the idea of joining Bayern Munich this summer.

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg is reporting that Liverpool winger Sadio Mane is open to a move to Bayern Munich this summer. The Senegal international’s Anfield future remains uncertain with just a year remaining on his contract after this season.

Mane isn’t the only Reds star entering his final year of contract with the club. Both of Mane’s attacking partners, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino will also have just a year remaining on their contracts after this month.

While Salah’s contract talks have hogged most of the limelight, Mane and Firmino’s possible extensions have taken a backseat. But recent reports claim that the 30-year-old could well be on his way out of Anfield come the summer window.

The aforementioned report claims there have been developments in the talks held between Bayern and the player’s entourage. The coming three to four weeks can prove crucial in the German giants’ pursuit of the Liverpool forward.

Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic are both said to be interested in bringing the Senegalese to the Allianz Arena. Mane could cost the Bavarian giants less than €50 million with just a year remaining on his Liverpool contract.

Mane has continued to impress for Jurgen Klopp’s side and has had a highly fruitful season, winning the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. The Reds were very much in the Premier League title reckoning until the final few minutes of the season before Manchester City staged a late comeback in their game against Aston Villa.

In 50 appearances across competitions, Mane has scored 23 goals and provided five assists. Five of his goals have come in the Champions League, with Liverpool advancing to the finals, where they will face Real Madrid this weekend.

In all, the Senegal international has made 268 Liverpool appearances since joining them from Southampton in 2016, scoring 120 goals and providing 48 assists in the process. He has won every major accolade with the Reds and also finished as the Premier League’s top-scorer in the 2018/19 season.

With Robert Lewandowski linked with an exit, Bayern Munich see Mane as a viable replacement. With the Liverpool forward seemingly open to the idea of moving to Bavaria, it will be interesting to see if a transfer materialises.
