Tottenham, Newcastle United interested in Jack Harrison

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are reportedly showing interest in Leeds United winger Jack Harrison.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are preparing to battle it out for Leeds United winger Jack Harrison. The 25-year-old had a highly impressive season for the Whites and was among the few positives from a disappointing campaign.

Leeds avoided the drop on the final day of the Premier League season, defeating Brentford 2-1 as Burnley fell to Newcastle United to get relegated to the Championship. With another season in the English top-flight confirmed, Jesse Marsch has quickly shifted his attention to strengthening his squad for the next term.

Leeds are all set to complete the signing of Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Brenden Aaronson. A fee and personal terms were reportedly agreed in January, but the move depended on Leeds’s Premier League status, which they secured on Sunday.

But with Aaronson arriving at the club for a handsome fee, there are bound to be outgoings too at Leeds. Multiple Leeds players have been linked with respective moves away from Elland Road, and Jack Harrison is one of them.

The English wide man has played for the youth academies of both Liverpool and Manchester United and moved to Manchester City in 2018 through their sister club New York City. But he did not play first-team football for the Cityzens, instead spending loan spells at Middlesbrough and Leeds United before joining the latter permanently last season.

In an otherwise disappointing campaign, which finished on a high for Leeds, Harrison was a small positive. He made 38 appearances for the club across competitions, scoring ten times and assisting two goals. The 25-year-old was on the scoresheet in Leeds’s final matchday win over Brentford, but that could turn out to be his final appearance for the club.

Both Tottenham and Newcastle have been left impressed by Harrison’s outings and could make a summer move for him. The English wide man still has two years left on his contract with the Whites. Harrison is not the only Leeds player to have been linked with an exit with Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips also attracting interest from other clubs. As for Harrison, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham or Newcastle can land him.
