Manchester United could retain Diogo Dalot in the summer as they view him as a long term option at right-back.

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United could retain Diogo Dalot, as they are not open to offers for the Portuguese full-back. The club want to keep the Portuguese star and instead remain open to selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer.

Diogo Dalot has spent the last few years trying to impress the Manchester United hierarchy, despite some underwhelming seasons for the club. He arrived a year before Aaron Wan-Bissaka was signed from Crystal Palace and the former FC Porto struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford

A loan move to AC Milan last season proved many of his doubters wrong, prompting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to retain the right-back’s services, despite plenty of offers from Italian clubs in the previous summer window.

Manchester United are planning to bring in a new right-back this summer, meaning either Dalot or Wan-Bissaka could be sold. Dalot has proved his worth after getting plenty of game time under interim boss Ralf Rangnick. And it seems like the Portuguese has earned the trust of the club to play at Old Trafford for the long term, as the Red Devils are now open to keeping him on.

Manchester United are willing to sell Wan-Bissaka instead, as the right-back continues to attract plenty of interest from Premier League sides. His departure could make space for a more favourable option to be brought in, which may suit new manager Erik ten Hag’s ideas for next season.

Wan-Bissaka is a target for Crystal Palace who are keen to bring him back. There is some interest from abroad, but the full-back is expected to remain in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, AS Roma are keen on Dalot if he is to be made available in the summer, although the tables are turned with regard to his transfer status. The 23-year-old Portuguese star could yet get regular opportunities to prove his worth further under ten Hag.
