Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement over a three-year contract worth €9 million-a-year with Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski.

According to AS, Barcelona have taken another step closer to clinching the signing of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window. The Blaugrana have reached an agreement with the Poland international over a three-year deal as he prepares to depart the Allianz Arena.

Lewandowski is widely regarded as one of the greatest goalscorers of the modern era. The 33-year-old has sent various records tumbling in German football over the past decade. Having spent eight years with Bayern Munich after joining from rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2014, the Poland international has decided it is time for a new challenge.

Lewandowski’s contract with Bayern Munich expires next year, and he has rejected the club’s advances to negotiate a new deal. He has made it abundantly clear to the German champions that he wishes to leave in the summer, with Barcelona emerging as his preferred destination.

Barcelona, for their part, are keen on signing Lewandowski as their marquee addition for the summer. The Catalans need to fill the hole left by Lionel Messi’s departure last summer with a superstar signing, and the 33-year-old Pole is seen as the ideal option to lead the team back to the top in the coming season.

To that end, Barcelona have held multiple negotiations with Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, who even travelled to Catalonia earlier this Thursday and bought ten shirts from the club’s official store with his client’s name printed, effectively confirming a transfer. It is now being claimed that the Blaugrana have struck an agreement over personal terms with the 33-year-old.

As per the terms of the deal, Lewandowski will be signing a three-year contract with Barcelona and will be pocketing wages of around €9 million per year. With the personal terms sorted, the Catalan giants must now agree a transfer fee with Bayern Munich, which might prove difficult as the Germans will likely play hardball.

However, considering Lewandowski’s age and contract duration left with Die Roten, the report states that Barcelona will not offer more than €60 million for the striker. Whether Bayern Munich find that offer acceptable will remain to be seen. But at the moment, things are starting to pick up pace in Barcelona’s pursuit of Lewandowski.
