Valencia have reportedly offered Spanish duo Jose Gaya and Carlos Soler to Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, amidst interest from Barcelona.
According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have been offered a chance to sign Valencia duo Carlos Soler and Jose Gaya after the pair was offered to Barcelona.
Soler and Gaya have contracts that expire in the summer of 2023, and Valencia are trying to cash in on their academy graduates to avoid losing them for nothing next year. Valencia president Anil Murthy travelled to Barcelona earlier this week to hold a meeting with Barcelona, during which he offered the pair to the Catalans in a deal worth €60 million.
Barcelona have held an interest in both Soler and Gaya as they seek reinforcements in midfield and left-back. However, the Blaugrana reportedly turned down the chance to sign them as they believe they can get the pair for a lower fee than the €60 million Valencia demanded.
However, their plans might be dealt a blow now as Valencia are seemingly happy to take their business elsewhere, with Los Che now offering Soler and Gaya to Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
Real Madrid are in the market for reinforcements in midfield as they look for long-term replacements for Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro. While Soler has not previously been mentioned as a target, they are now believed to be considering Valencia’s proposal. With Marcelo set to depart at the end of the season, they could also do with a top left-back, making Gaya a valuable signing as well.
The same holds for Atletico Madrid, who are on the lookout for new midfielders to add more quality to their side with Rodrigo De Paul not shining as expected and Koke’s performance levels declining. At the same time, a new left-back could also be a welcome signing for Diego Simeone’s side as Renan Lodi is being linked with an exit in the summer.
The report adds that Real Madrid are seriously considering the possibility of signing Soler and Gaya, although Valencia will want a sum of at least €50 million for their star duo. Two players in their prime and with proven pedigree in La Liga, the deal would be a coup if Los Blancos decide to press ahead with it, although Barcelona might rethink their stance given the latest developments.
