Arsenal are reportedly exploring a Bosman move for Boubacar Kamara in the coming window as Mikel Arteta seeks a player to improve his midfield.

According to Fichajes, Boubacar Kamara has emerged as an option for Arsenal to consider in the summer transfer window. The Gunners could be looking at the 22-year-old French utility man as a financially viable option to strengthen the first-team squad due to his availability as a free agent.

Arsenal fans may be clear about what their club needs in the summer transfer window, but Mikel Arteta is yet to draw out a plan on how he intends to strengthen his side. Several areas need conditioning and require new players, with central midfield considered key among those.

The Gunners have flourished under Arteta’s tutelage but have operated with a thin squad. Arsenal have looked weak since Thomas Partey’s season was cut short in late April.

Arsenal did sign Albert Sambi Lokonga in the summer, and the Belgian has proved handy at times. However, neither has he been considered a replacement for Partey nor is he a defensive midfielder. The Gunners are thus in the market for a defensive midfielder, with many expensive and cost-effective options getting mentioned as targets recently.

Arsenal have now reportedly entered the chase for Boubacar Kamara, who is the subject of interest for plenty of other clubs from the Premier League. The 22-year-old French utility man has had a tremendous season with Marseille, featuring 47 times across all competitions and becoming a key star in Jorge Sampaoli’s side.

However, his precarious contractual situation means Kamara will leave as a free agent this summer, which has alerted several clubs. Kamara’s age profile makes him a curious prospect for any top club, with the player showing his mentality by playing in some massive games for Marseille during his time.

Aston Villa are reportedly leading the race to sign the 22-year-old. However, with Arsenal now entering the equation, the Gunners may be looked at with a favourable eye. Kamara could be the player Arteta is craving, as he is young, dynamic and plays in a position where the Gunners are short of quality.

Arsenal have lacked the quality of Partey in the Ghanaian’s absence. Even though Mohamed Elneny has deputised well in Partey’s absence and will probably get a new contract for his efforts, the Egyptian is not the long-term option Arsenal need.

As for Kamara, the 22-year-old could be a terrific addition to a young Arsenal side, buzzing with confidence. His availability for a Bosman move will further ignite Arsenal’s attention as the north Londoners can then divert a chunk of their budget on signing attacking players they so desperately need.
