Juventus are reportedly on the verge of signing Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, who has agreed a deal in principle to rejoin his former club.
According to a report from journalist Jacque Talbot, Juventus have agreed a deal in principle with Paul Pogba. It appears the Manchester United midfielder is determined to rejoin his former club in an attempt to revive his career, although the Serie A giants could face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain.
With Paulo Dybala and Giorgio Chiellini leaving the club, Juventus are staring at a difficult summer. Following the high profile exits, fans will certainly demand some fresh faces who can help add the much-needed quality into the ranks as the club look to compete for the Serie A title next season.
One of the players in line to join the club is Paul Pogba. The Frenchman is a prodigal son of Juventus, having played for the club between 2012 to 2016. During his time in Turin, he made a total of 178 competitive appearances, seemingly announcing himself as one of the best midfielders in the world before earning a return to Manchester United.
However, his second spell at Manchester United has not panned out the way he would have hoped, with the midfielder often struggling for form and fitness. And it appears he is now set to put an end to his spell at Old Trafford by leaving the club at the end of the season.
Pogba could prove to be an asset for Juventus as he can join ranks with Manuel Locatelli and Denis Zakaria to breed new life to the Serie A club’s midfield unit. The Manchester United midfielder’s dynamism and technical prowess could go a long way in improving the club’s approach play – something they have lacked over the past couple of seasons.
That said, Juventus cannot undermine the competition from Paris Saint-Germain. Although they have agreed a deal in principle with Pogba, the Frenchman will always have the compulsion to join PSG and return to his homeland, where he can play alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Marco Verratti among many others.
Manchester United, for their part, are prepared to move on with their new coach Erik ten Hag prioritising a move for Frenkie de Jong as the ideal replacement for Pogba. The Dutchman has demanded a few other players as he looks to rebuild his midfield and add some real quality in the second line of press.
