Newcastle United are prepared to double Victor Osimhen’s salary and prise the Nigerian striker away from Napoli in the summer window.
According to Calciomercato, Newcastle United are ready to offer an €8-9 million net salary to Victor Osimhen, in a bid to lure the Nigerian striker away from Napoli. The Italian giants are willing to sell the forward if they receive offers above €100 million from suitors.
Victor Osimhen’s name is doing the rounds in the media as the Nigerian striker is on top of the list of many big clubs in England ahead of the summer window. His physical attributes and goalscoring record for Napoli have attracted significant interest, which could result in a big move for the forward.
Arsenal had reportedly contacted Osimhen’s representatives earlier and could look to make a considerable offer when the season ends. The Gunners will boost their chances of convincing the striker over a move if they qualify for the Champions League via a fourth-place finish in the Premier League.
Manchester United are also keen and are considered frontrunners in the chase for the Nigerian, as the club are planning a revamp in the summer when Erik ten Hag takes over as their new manager. The Red Devils have the financial capabilities to pay a huge transfer fee and offer the striker a lucrative package.
There is another giant on the rise in the Premier League in Newcastle United, who enter the transfer window backed by their wealthy Saudi owners. The Magpies could spend big on players to strengthen their squad, as Eddie Howe will target a top-six finish next season.
Newcastle are looking to reinforce several key positions, and bringing in a top-quality striker remains firmly on top of their plans. They are also in the chase for Osimhen and are reportedly willing to offer €8-9 million net salary per season to prise the forward to St James Park.
That figure would double Osimhen’s current salary at Napoli, who are open to selling him if interested clubs meet the asking price. The Serie A giants want a fee of over €100 million, as they hope to make a significant profit over their initial €70 million investment in the striker.
Napoli hope to use the funds generated through Osimhen’s sale to bring in fresh talents to the club next season. However, it will be tough convincing the Premier League sides to cough up around €100 million on one player irrespective of how rich they are.
