AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni reportedly wants to play in the Premier League amid interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.

Speaking to Wett Freunde, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that AS Monaco midfield mainstay Aurelien Tchouameni is keen on playing in the Premier League, handing a boost to Arsenal and Manchester United, who are interested in the Frenchman.

Tchouameni has made rapid strides since his move to Monaco from Bordeaux in January 2020. An exciting prospect back then, the 22-year-old is now one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1 and a regular for the French national team.

The French international, who won the UEFA Nations League with Les Bleus last year, is attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. Arsenal and Manchester United have also been credited with a strong interest in Tchouameni ahead of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal are in the market to find the perfect partner for Thomas Partey in the centre of the park. Granit Xhaka has performed well this season but is susceptible to errors. Mohamed Elneny’s contract with the Gunners expires in the summer, whereas Albert Sambi Lokonga still lacks the experience at this level.

Furthermore, given Partey’s injury problems, it is imperative that Arsenal add more quality depth in midfield, especially considering that they will be playing European football next season. It makes Tchouameni a viable target for Mikel Arteta’s side.

As for Manchester United, the Red Devils are set for a revamp of their midfield unit ahead of Erik ten Hag’s impending arrival as the new manager. Paul Pogba is set to depart at the end of the season when his contract runs out, while Nemanja Matic has already confirmed his departure from Old Trafford.

With Scott McTominay and Fred hardly being the epitome of consistency, a top midfielder is a priority for Manchester United, with Tchouameni emerging as a key target.

And now, both Arsenal and Manchester United have been handed a boost in pursuit of Tchouameni as Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that the midfielder has ambitions of playing in the Premier League. The journalist claims that the 22-year-old stayed in Monaco last summer so that he could move to England this year, and a transfer could be on the horizon.

It will be interesting to see who among Arsenal and Manchester United come out on top in the race for Tchouameni or if he ends up moving to a different club altogether.
