Erik ten Hag wants Manchester United to sign Tyrell Malacia

Manchester United’s incoming manager Erik ten Hag reportedly wants to sign Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia in the summer, valued at £20 million by Feyenoord.

According to Daily Mirror, Tyrell Malacia is a target for Erik ten Hag, and the Dutch left-back could become one of the first signings under the new Manchester United manager. The Red Devils have a big problem in the area with their current options being underwhelming this campaign. And bringing in a new, hungry player seems like the solution for Manchester United.

Tyrell Malacia has made a name for being a physical, hungry and pacey left-back in the Eredivisie. He has been impressive at Feyenoord, a club he joined as a nine-year-old. The Dutch outfit are bracing themselves for offers in the summer, with Manchester United linked with the left-back.

New Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag reportedly wanted to bring Malacia under his wings while at Ajax and failed to convince Feyenoord to agree on a deal. However, things could be different in his new office as the Dutchman wants to develop the exciting left-back, who fits the requirements at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have struggled on the left side of the defence, with their current options in Alex Telles and Luke Shaw experiencing an underwhelming season. They want to address the issue by bringing in a new left-back who could start games under ten Hag and become a reliable option for years to come.

Manchester United have Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon in their sights, among other names. There is considerable competition for the Spurs star, and he would come at a higher cost.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are also interested in Sergio Gomez, although incoming manager ten Hag has a different idea to solve the problem. The Dutchman wants Malacia to come in and develop under his tutelage. The Feyenoord left-back’s attributes will suit Manchester United, who want a physical and pacey full-back to strengthen the position.

Malacia would reportedly cost around £20 million, and Manchester United could make a substantial offer in the coming weeks to tempt Feyenoord to sell him. The Dutch outfit have financial troubles following the pandemic and could be open to cashing in on Malacia.

Malacia could become one of the first signings under ten Hag and could be followed by Jurrien Timber from Ajax, who is a target for Manchester United.

There could be other names chosen as alternatives should Manchester United fail to convince Feyenoord to sell Malacia. Given the gulf in the levels, the player could leave his boyhood club and move into the next phase of his career with a £20 million transfer.
