Leeds United have reportedly been given the green light to hold talks with Aberdeen’s teenage prospect Calvin Ramsay, a target for Liverpool.

According to Football Insider, Leeds United have been given a massive boost in their pursuit of Calvin Ramsay. The Yorkshire outfit have shown the desire to snap up the Aberdeen youngster this summer in a multi-million deal. And it appears they have been given the green light to make the move by holding talks with the player, who is also a target for Liverpool.

Aberdeen are reportedly ready to cash in on their youth prospect this summer as they look to inject some cash into the club ahead of the new season. With Ramsay one of the hottest prospects in Scottish football right now, Aberdeen, are expected to hold out for a seven-figure fee as they believe the player has immense potential.

A right-back by trade, Ramsay has indeed shown immense potential in the Scottish Premiership this season. At the tender of 18, he has already become a first-team regular at Aberdeen, racking up 22 league appearances and mustering five assists.

The teenage youth prospect has impressed the onlookers with his ability to make marauding runs forward and offer width out wide. His tally of five assists this season is enough to be indicative of his effectiveness in the final third, while Ramsay also offers athleticism and pace to the table.

It could make him an ideal fit for a Leeds United side desperate for reinforcements in the full-back department. Especially at right-back, the injury woes of Luke Ayling had often forced Marcelo Bielsa to deploy Stuart Dallas and even Jamie Shackleton in the said position.

New coach Jesse Marsch is looking to put an end to this problem by bringing in Calvin Ramsay. The young Scot could be an ideal deputy for Ayling at right-back. His athletic nature and ability to influence the game in the final third could make him a tailor-made fit for the American’s system at Elland Road.

Leeds United, though, are not the only club involved in the race to sign Ramsay. The teenager is also on the radar of Liverpool, although the promise of more frequent game-time could make Leeds the desired option for the player, who will hope to maintain his level of progress upon his move to the Premier League next season. But it will be interesting to see if Liverpool can beat Leeds to his signature.
