Tottenham are reportedly eyeing Hellas Verona midfielder Antonin Barak, with Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici ready to raid Serie A for another recruit.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Tottenham could go back to Serie A looking at a new player to strengthen their squad. Hellas Verona midfielder Antonin Barak has emerged on their radar as Spurs eye a move for the Czech Republic star to shore up their options.
Antonin Barak is open to leaving Hellas Verona in the summer after a sensational season under his belt. The Serie A side have had a positive campaign so far, which may see them finish in the top half of the table.
And Barak has played a big part in the team’s rise to prominence, scoring ten goals and providing four assists, all coming in Serie A. He was attracting plenty of interest from Premier League clubs in January, which may be the case again when the summer window opens.
Tottenham are one of the clubs keen on Barak, as Antonio Conte eyes signings to shore up his options in the middle of the park. Spurs did sign Rodrigo Bentancur in January, but they lack a player who could take up an advanced position in the side.
The Serie A has become a common stable for Spurs to find recruits. It has become a theme since Fabio Paratici’s arrival last summer as their director. The former Juventus executive has formed a decent partnership with Conte, and together, they lured in a couple of players from Italy in January, those being Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski.
Before that, Paratici was instrumental in signing Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta, and it seems like the trend will continue into the next window.
Barak is a unique player, capable of playing across different midfield positions. While he commonly operates in an attacking midfield role, there have been instances when he played in more withdrawn positions with composure and maturity. Tottenham need someone like him to add an extra layer of creativity to the squad, which could be crucial to their chances of winning a trophy next season.
The upcoming summer window will be interesting for Tottenham, who will be hoping to build a team around Conte’s specifications. They could look like a team capable of challenging for the title if they find and sign the right players, and Barak could be the first piece of the puzzle. The north Londoners are thus ready to ‘accelerate’ their pursuit of the 27-year-old, and it remains to be seen if they can get a deal over the line.
