Borussia Dortmund have reportedly made it clear to Liverpool and Manchester United that Jude Bellingham is not for sale this summer.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool and Manchester United have been handed a massive blow in their efforts to land Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The English international is one of the best young players in world football and continues to go from strength to strength in the Bundesliga. Despite turning only 18, Bellingham is an experienced head and has proven himself at the top level.

Bellingham’s potential has been clear since his days at Birmingham City, and it comes as no surprise that both Liverpool and Manchester United continue to monitor his progress. The English international will add much to both team’s midfield despite the duo possessing some of the best players in world football.

Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Fabinho continue to perform at a high level for the Reds. However, three of the quintet are in their thirties and will need to be replaced sooner or later by Liverpool.

With James Milner looking set to depart Anfield, there is no better time than now for Liverpool to bring in Bellingham. The 18-year-old English international has all the traits to thrive in Jurgen Klopp’s system and makes phasing out Henderson easier.

Manchester United, however, need a player of Bellingham’s calibre even more. Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic are set to leave the club in the summer, while the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay have their limitations. Even Bruno Fernandes has blown hot and cold this season.

Borussia Dortmund, however, are having none of it and have no intention of selling the player. They are also keen to extend the 18-year-old’s stay at Signal Iduna Park. Given that Bellingham’s current deal runs until 2025, Dortmund’s stance is indicative of the high hopes they have for the youngster.

Already a regular for England, Bellingham certainly has a bright future ahead of him. While Dortmund hold the aces when it comes to negotiations, it remains to be seen just how long they can hold onto their star man amid interest from Manchester United and Liverpool. The Black and Yellows are set to lose Erling Haaland and will be keen to avoid losing another one of their crown jewels anytime soon.

Given Bellingham’s potential, it remains unlikely that either Liverpool or Manchester United will give up on signing the 18-year-old English international anytime soon. How it plays out in the years to come remains to be seen.
