Tottenham Hotspur are readying a massive bid to land Torino duo Gleison Bremer and Wilfried Singo in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to the print edition of Tuttosport via Twitter, Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a summer move for Torino duo Gleison Bremer and Wilfried Singo.
The Lilywhites have turned their fortunes around of late under Antonio Conte. The Italian’s presence has galvanised Tottenham to an extent and brought them back into the reckoning for a top-four finish.
Despite a handful of games remaining this season, Tottenham already have an eye on the upcoming summer transfer window. They are keen to strengthen the squad at Conte’s disposal, handing him the tools needed to challenge for titles next season.
One area that needs strengthening is the defence, and Spurs certainly have big plans to address that. With Conte and Fabio Paratici calling the shots, the north Londoners are taking a distinct Serie A flavour, and two more players might be on their way from Italy to England.
Gleison Bremer is among the best young defenders in Europe and is a rock at the back for Torino. He has been a reliable performer for the Italian side, conceding just 31 goals in 32 Serie A games so far this season. To put things into perspective, only the top four in Italy have conceded fewer goals than Torino this season.
A physically daunting player with excellent technical skills to back him up, the Brazilian has the right skill set to thrive in England. It has led to an array of Premier League clubs taking an interest in Bremer, with Tottenham among them. There is every reason to believe that he can form a formidable partnership with Spurs ace Cristian Romero for years to come.
Singo, meanwhile, will strengthen another key area of the Spurs squad. The 21-year-old is a right-back and has emerged as a regular for Torino this season. Capable of impressing in both the attacking and defensive facets, the youngster could be an inspired addition.
Conte’s preferred system sees his wing-backs play a huge role, and it is essential that the Italian is handed the right players that suit his tactics. Emerson Royal has endured mixed fortunes this season and could be sold by Tottenham in the summer. Matt Doherty has also failed to meet the required standards, even though he did show improvement in recent weeks before getting injured.
While Singo would need some time to settle in, he might be well worth the risk. Tottenham, for their part, are preparing a bid of €50 million for both players. Should it go through, Spurs could very well land themselves two key pieces for Conte’s jigsaw, who can form the core of the team for years to come.
