Premier League giants Liverpool will have to pay at least €40 million to stand a chance of signing Torino centre-back, Gleison Bremer.

According to reports in Calciomercato.it, Liverpool are one of a host of clubs interested in Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer. While Inter Milan and AC Milan are potential suitors from Serie A, the report states that the Reds want to bring the 25-year-old to Anfield, with his price tag set at €40 million .

Bremer moved to Italy by joining Torino in the 2018 summer transfer window from Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro. The then-21-year-old was not straightaway given a starting spot in the team, and he made just five Serie A appearances in his first season.

The defender was offered a more drawn-out role in his second season at the club, as he made a total of 35 appearances for them across competitions, even scoring five and assisting three goals in the process. Bremer became the Serie A outfit’s first-choice centre-back the following season and has come into his own in the ongoing term.

This season, Bremer has made 29 Serie A appearances and has been one of their best players in a season that has seen them improve massively on last year’s finish. They are currently 11th in the league, six points off 10th-placed Verona with a match in hand.

Bremer was especially impressive in the Turin-based side’s recent 0-0 draw against league leaders Milan. He was probably the best player on the pitch, making six clearances, four interceptions, three tackles and winning five ground duels. His recent form has been quite impressive, which has put a few European giants on alert, including Liverpool.

AC Milan and Inter Milan are eager to sign the centre-back, who has just over two years remaining on his contract with Torino. But eye-catching performances in big matches are attracting interest from the Premier League sides as well, with Liverpool exploring the possibility of signing the defender.

Other than Virgil van Dijk, the Reds signed Ibrahima Konate last summer, whereas Joel Matip and Joe Gomez are also among their central defensive options. Gomez has been linked with Aston Villa recently, and thus Liverpool could look to add a centre-back this summer. But with Torino demanding €40 million for him, it will be interesting to see if any of his suitors will shell out such a sum.
