Liverpool are set to sign Fulham sensation Fabio Carvalho on a five-year deal ahead of the 2022 summer transfer window.

According to Football Insider, Premier League giants Liverpool have agreed to a five-year deal with Fulham’s teenage sensation, Fabio Carvalho, ahead of the 2022 summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old started out in the Benfica youth system before moving to Balham and eventually ending up at Fulham in 2015. He came through the ranks at the London club before making his first-team bow in 2020. He has since made 37 appearances for the Cottagers, scoring nine goals and making seven assists.

Carvalho has been an important player for Marco Silva this season as Fulham target a return to the Premier League. They are currently at the summit of the English second division with just a handful of games to go. Unless their form drops off dramatically, they look like favourites to return to the top flight.

It could prove to be Carvalho’s biggest contribution to the Cottagers. His contract at Craven Cottage expires in the summer of 2022 and Liverpool have a deal in place to take him to Anfield when that happens.

The Reds have agreed to land Carvalho on a five-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2027. The Reds will pay £5 million to Fulham for the player and a potential £2.7 million in bonuses. The amount will be considered peanuts should Carvalho go on to fulfil his potential on Merseyside.

The Reds are set to increase the youngster’s wages fourfold, handing him a handsome pay rise once he completes the switch. An impressive attacker who can function in the No. 10 role, he is arguably the first player who can thrive in that position at Anfield since the departure of Philippe Coutinho. It is fair to say that his arrival will offer the Reds something different in terms of creativity.

Jurgen Klopp’s side came close to landing Carvalho in the January transfer window but were unable to complete the paperwork ahead of the deadline. Despite falling short, the club kept in touch with Fulham and ensured that no third party swooped in to steal Carvalho from under their noses.

Liverpool have a sensational record in the transfer window and the insistence they showed to get the Carvalho deal over the line is an indication of how highly they rate the 19-year-old. Whether he will fulfil those expectations or not remains to be seen.

There are few better managers than Klopp and few better clubs than Liverpool for Carvalho to develop his talents. The Reds could very well have pulled one over their rivals in the transfer market by landing Carvalho.
