West Ham United battle Inter Milan for Jonathan David

West Ham United vs AFC Bournemouth: Preview and Prediction.

West Ham United are considering a move for Jonathan David as David Moyes expands his search for a new striker for the summer window.

According to Calciomercato, West Ham United are in the mix to sign LOSC Lille star Jonathan David, as the Londoners continue their search for the perfect competition for Michail Antonio. The Hammers will have to battle several sides for the frontman, including Inter Milan.

Jonathan David has emerged on the shortlist of several top clubs following impressive performances for Lille since he joined the French side in 2020. The Canadian forward has 17 strikes across all competition this season, and there is a growing belief he may be ready for a big move elsewhere.

Lille’s well-publicised financial troubles could force them to sell some of their prized assets in the summer, including David, Renato Sanches and Sven Botman, with clubs expected to queue up, particularly for the Canadian frontman.

West Ham have entered the chase recently, with David Moyes desperate to sign a new striker in the off-season. They have struggled a bit this season, having just Antonio as their leading forward, who has been burdened with leading the line across all competitions.

Moyes tried to bring in a backup to Antonio in January, but the move did not materialise. The Hammers are now eyeing someone to compete with the Jamaican and eventually take over as the frontline striker role next seaon. And a signing like David could let West Ham gradually replace their current star striker, who recently turned 32.

West Ham face intense competition for David, with many top clubs vying for his signature. Among those are Inter Milan, who are looking for a new forward in the scenario that Lautaro Martinez leaves in the summer. The Italians are keen on the 22-year-old Ligue 1 striker, having been impressed by his performances and his style of play that resembles Martinez.

However, the competition from the Premier League itself is frightening, with Tottenham keen on the striker alongside Arsenal and possibly even Manchester City in the mix. The Hammers have a task at hand to convince David to join them, although, the Canadian could get more playing time at the London club than anywhere else.

As things stand, the race for the 22-year-old Ligue 1 striker remains open, and the clear picture of the clubs seriously interested in him could become clearer in the summer. West Ham could be a good destination, although he might wait on all offers before deciding on his new club.
