Lazio have set their sights on Everton midfielder Allan, who has been identified as a potential replacement Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
A recent report from Area Napoli has offered an update on Lazio’s transfer policy in the upcoming summer transfer window. It appears coach Maurizio Sarri has set his sights on multiple players across Europe as he looks to add serious quality to the squad next season. Everton’s Allan is believed to be one of the players emerging on the radar of Sarri.
The report suggests the Brazilian is identified as a potential replacement for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Serbian international is likely to leave Roma in the summer, amid interest from European giants such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Milinkovic-Savic’s potential exit could create a massive void in Lazio’s midfield unit, thus accentuating the need for a new midfielder. Allan, to that end, has emerged as a target, despite being a much different player to Milinkovic-Savic, as the Everton midfielder has garnered vast experience at the highest level of football.
Known for his role as an anchor in the middle of the park, the midfielder has even worked under Maurizio Sarri during their time together at Napoli. He notably made 132 competitive appearances under the Italian tactician and was even close to securing the Scudetto.
Such experience and familiarity have made Allan a top target for Lazio next season, although it remains to be seen whether Everton would be keen on offloading their star player.
For a club that has struggled with injuries to key midfielders throughout the past twelve months, it is hard to imagine the Toffees selling one of their assets. The Brazilian, after all, has been an ever-present figure in the Everton starting XI, racking up close to 2,000 minutes of league action so far this term.
His passing and ability to provide defensive support are crucial elements in Frank Lampard’s tactical setup that revolves around an attacking mentality. At the same time, Everton are hoping to shore up their ranks in midfield this summer and possibly find an alternative to Allan in the number six slot.
The Toffees have been linked with a move for VfL Wolfsburg’s rising star in Aster Vrancx, while Lampard is open to a reunion with Billy Gilmour as well. Whether or not the Merseyside giants can land any of the two in the new season remains to be seen, with a lot banking upon their quest to survive relegation this campaign.
