Leicester City are keen on signing Cameron Carter-Vickers, with a move away from Tottenham likely for the defender after impressing on loan at Celtic.
According to SBI Soccer, Leicester City are keen on signing Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham in the summer, as the Foxes eye fresh defensive reinforcements for next season. The USMNT star has been impressing on loan at Celtic, and a move back to England might appeal to the defender.
After failing to make the grade at Tottenham, Cameron Carter-Vickers has spent the last few seasons away from the club on several loan spells. He joined Celtic at the start of the season and has become a key member of the Scottish Premiership giants. The USMNT defender has managed to make 36 appearances in all competitions this term, and his displays have attracted the attention of several clubs in England.
While Celtic do have an option to buy inserted in the current loan deal, the player could still dictate the terms if a Premier League side shows interest. West Ham United are reportedly looking at him as David Moyes eyes defensive reinforcements to shore up his backline.
Leicester City have now joined the hunt for the USMNT star, with the Foxes exploring the idea of launching an approach in the summer. Tottenham are looking for at least £6 million, although considering Carter-Vickers’ recent performances, they may demand a fee closer to £10 million, including bonuses.
The Foxes are keen on the defender considering their problems at the back this term. The loss of Wesley Fofana to an injury in pre-season has hurt Brendan Rodgers’ side significantly this term. The likes of Caglar Soyuncu and Jannik Vestergaard have disappointed all season, and Jonny Evans has also struggled with fitness problems.
As such, Rodgers is looking at players to plug the gaps in his defence before next season. Leicester are looking at Chelsea starlet Levi Colwill as a potential option next summer, while Carter-Vickers has also emerged as a target.
Comparing Colwill to Carter-Vickers, the latter has plenty of first-team experience, and has impressed with Celtic this term and Bournemouth in the last season. It remains to be seen if the Foxes solidify their interest in the Tottenham centre-back and convince him to move to the King Power Stadium rather than signing permanently with Celtic.
In light of interest from a Premier League club, Tottenham could look to extract more value for Carter-Vickers. It remains to be seen if the USMNT star moves to Celtic or Leicester in the summer.
