Joe Rodon intent on leaving Tottenham in the summer

SSC Napoli vs US Lecce: Preview and Prediction as the Serie A leaders look to strengthen their hold on the summit.

Joe Rodon has his heart set on a move away from Tottenham after failing to impress Antonio Conte this season.

According to Football Insider, Joe Rodon is looking ahead to a summer of change. The Tottenham Hotspur centre-back is desperate to leave the club after failing to make a name for himself in north London. He was keen on securing an exit from the north London outfit even in January, but none of his suitors attempted to lure him away from Spurs in the middle of the season.

Formerly of Swansea City, Rodon has been a part of the Tottenham side since the summer of 2020. He was more of a panic buy from Jose Mourinho, who was unsure of his team’s defensive depth and had to settle for the centre-back during the domestic window.

Rodon’s role at Tottenham soon became evident as the Welshman only mustered 12 Premier League appearances during his maiden season at the club. His fortunes have turned from bad to worse under the new management, with the player making just one league appearance throughout the campaign so far.

The 24-year-old has fallen behind Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, and Japhet Tanganga in the pecking order. Even when Romero and Dier struggled with fitness, Conte opted to start with Ben Davies, leaving the Welshman merely a part of the matchday squad.

In an attempt to end this misery in north London, Rodon is now prepared to leave Tottenham in the summer. While it remains to be seen which teams put forward offers for the talented Welshman, it is certain that he won’t be the only player to exit Spurs after the end of the season.

Even in January, Tottenham were tipped to lose Japhet Tanganga, who was reportedly closing in on a move to AC Milan. A move did not materialise at the end, but it won’t be surprising to see the youngster depart in the summer, especially with Antonio Conte already gunning for new options in the market, including Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer.

The Lilywhites have been linked with a move for talented RB Leipzig starlet Josko Gvardiol as well, although signing the Croat could be significantly difficult as the player had just joined Leipzig last summer.

As for Rodon, he was attracting interest from Newcastle United and Brighton in the January window. Whether they rekindle their interest in the Welshman remains to be seen, but an exit from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looks like a strong possibility.
