West Ham United are reportedly among the four clubs who are trying to sign Real Madrid playmaker Isco on a free transfer in the summer.

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid midfielder Isco is a man in demand heading into the summer transfer window, as his contract with Los Blancos is set to expire. As many as four clubs from across Europe are vying to sign the Spaniard on a free transfer, with Premier League club West Ham United one among them.

Isco joined Real Madrid from Malaga in the summer of 2013 as one of the most exciting youngsters in the game at the time. The Spanish international enjoyed great success in his early years at the Spanish capital outfit, but he has struggled to stay relevant at the club over the past two or three seasons.

Isco has been a marginalised figure at the Santiago Bernabeu and has hardly been used by Carlo Ancelotti this term. He has started just three matches in La Liga this season and has featured only 14 times across all competitions, scoring two goals.

Given his current situation at the club and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, Isco looks set to leave Real Madrid as a free agent in the summer. There seems to be no shortage of interest in the 29-year-old’s services, with the likes of AC Milan and Inter Milan interested, while West Ham United have also entered the fray for his signing.

The report states that West Ham have had an interest in the Spanish international for a while now and have contacted Real Madrid on several occasions in the past to discuss a transfer. However, they were rejected each time by the La Liga giants. But with his contract now expiring, the Hammers believe that they have a chance to sign the ex-Malaga ace.

West Ham have no shortage of attacking midfielders. But Nikola Vlasic has struggled to make an impact since his summer arrival, while the likes of Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma have not been performing consistently enough, which has left Jarrod Bowen to do the heavy-lifting in the final third.

Bringing in another attacking player who can add more creativity and versatility to the field would make sense for David Moyes’ side. While there have been links to Jonathan Bamba of LOSC Lille, Isco, too, has emerged as a viable target. The report states that West Ham would be able to offer the Spaniard a reasonable contract and a regular berth in the side, which would appeal to the player.

However, with AC Milan, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund all interested in the Real Madrid ace, it remains to be seen if West Ham can win the battle for his signing.
