Liverpool are eyeing a summer swoop for in-demand West Ham attacker Jarrod Bowen, who is rated highly by Jurgen Klopp.
According to Fichajes, Liverpool are prepared to step up their pursuit of Jarrod Bowen. The West Ham United attacker has emerged as one of the priority targets for the Premier League giants for the summer transfer window, as Jurgen Klopp looks to further strengthen his options in the offensive unit.
Formerly of the Hull City academy, Bowen has enjoyed unprecedented success since his move to West Ham in early 2020. In just over two years at the club, the winger has racked up 89 competitive appearances, scoring 21 goals while providing the same number of assists. His contributions in the final third have played a critical role in the club’s success under David Moyes.
Indeed, Bowen was one of West Ham’s main protagonists last season when they managed to secure European football. This time around, the attacker has further enhanced his tally, racking up eight goals and ten assists in just 26 league encounters.
In light of his tremendous performances, West Ham are prepared to extend the 25-year-old’s current contract that expires in 2025. However, the winger could be set for a move elsewhere, with Liverpool among the clubs closely monitoring his swift rise to prominence in the London Stadium.
After a January window that saw them bag the services of Luis Diaz, the Reds have shown a lot of ambition in the market in recent years. It appears the Reds are building the blocks for a new era as they slowly brace themselves for a future without Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Salah has become the subject of attention in Europe this year as he is yet to pen a new deal at Anfield. Many believe Liverpool may not meet the Egyptian’s hefty demands and intend to move on in the summer, putting Real Madrid on red alert.
Salah or even Mane’s potential departure from Anfield could pave the way for Liverpool to make a considerable investment in Jarrod Bowen. Although the Englishman is nowhere close when it comes to changing the complexion of games with his technical and goalscoring prowess, his experience in English football could be useful, especially when combined with the likes of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.
However, Liverpool are set to face strong resistance from West Ham in the pursuit of Bowen. Not to mention, the winger is also courted by fellow Premier League giants in Manchester United, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the English international as he looks to take the next step in his career.
