Jurgen Klopp has decided to include new signings Marko Grujic and Joel Matip in the starting eleven in Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Mainz.

Less than 24 hours after a memorable 4-0 routing of Barcelona, Liverpool are set to square off against German side Mainz. For the friendly encounter, manager Jurgen Klopp has opted to pick striker Divock Origi to lead the line for the Reds alongside academy product Ben Woodburn. Marko Grujic is named in the starting lineup after a superb cameo against Barcelona. The new signing scored a brilliant header against the Catalans and is expected to put up a fine showing once again.

Youngsters Andre Wisdom and Trent Alexander-Arnold will accompany Joel Matip and Alberto Moreno in defence, while reserve keeper Alex Manninger is set to start between the sticks for Liverpool.

For Mainz, Argentine attacker Pablo de Blasis is expected to start as the lone man up front. Captain and star defender Stefan Bell will be deployed as a centre-back partnering Leon Balogun. In goal, Mainz manager Martin Schmidt  has opted to go for his first-choice keeper in the form of Jonas Lössl.
