Zlatan isn’t on the wishlist of the Premier League club he wants to join, even as a free agent. On the other hand, Liverpool are waiting to find out how much they have to pay for the English striker they acquired last season.
Manchester United’s hot and cold pursuit of Lazio’s Felipe Anderson has come to the fore once again, as the player’s agent said that no offers have been made, but stated that there’s always room for negotiation.
No offer yet for Felipe Anderson, but agent open to talks?
Brazilian attacking midfielder Felipe Anderson has long been on Manchester United’s radar. There were even reports that his current club Lazio rejected a 50 million euro bid for Anderson last summer. The Serie A club could struggle to keep him this time around though, having crashed out of the Europa League and underwhelmed in the Serie A.
Manchester United are getting closer and closer to signing the 22-year-old, if the transfer rumours are to be believed. However, the player’s agent has said that he hasn’t received any offers yet and if someone wants to make an offer, they should open up talks first.
“I have nothing to say about this. We have not received any request. There is nothing,” said his agent, according to Italian outlet lalaziosiamonoi.com.
“Parties should talk to us first. “
The huge figures being thrown around seem to be way off the mark, considering that he has just 8 goals and 3 assists this season. He is rated at 20 million euros by transfermarkt.com.
Arsene Wenger dismisses Zlatan interest
The biggest transfer of the summer could well be a free transfer, as Swede super-striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic calls it a day on his four-year career at Paris Saint-Germain.
It is being rumoured that the Swede is looking for a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal reportedly being his preferred destination. If this is true, then Zlatan will definitely not be pleased by Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger’s comments on the matter.
“At the moment no we are not on that case,” he said. “Where we are at the moment is short term. We are not on Zlatan’s case,” said Wenger, according to Sky Sports.
“At the moment my priority is not to go in the transfer market about possible signings. We are not at the moment thinking of signing anybody.”
The 34-year-old has shown no signs of slowing down even with advancing age, having just had one of the most fruitful seasons of his career. Zlatan scored 31 goals and registered 14 assists this season. He has already won the Ligue 1 and could play a vital part in PSG’s Champions League campaign.
Zlatan would be a great catch for anyone who would sign him, but Arsene Wenger is perhaps paying him back for his infamous retort when he was asked to try for the Arsenal squad as a young Malmo player. The Swede had said, “Zlatan doesn’t do auditions.”
Liverpool need to cough up for Danny Ings transfer last summer
Liverpool sealed the free transfer of 23-year-old former Burnley player Danny Ings in the summer of 2015. But they will have to pay a price for Ings despite that because of the FA rules, and the Reds still do not know how much they will need to pay Burnley. A tribunal will decide the price, and it could turn out to be a significant sum.
“The reason it is different to the ordinary is this tribunal claim will be the biggest in history,” said Burnley chief executive Dave Baldwin, according to the Mirror.
“The value is based on training compensation, not the market value of a player,” he added.
“It’s how long you have that player at your club, what did you do to develop him, what were your investments in how you developed him and as a result of that what player did you produce at the point he departed your club.”
The highest compensation paid in Premier League history is 6.5 million pounds, which Manchester City received from Chelsea for Daniel Sturridge in 2009. This means Ings could cost up to 10 million pounds, given the expensive price tags of football players these days.
