Today’s transfer news revolves around the two Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid. While one of Barca’s goalkeepers thinks his time at Camp Nou is coming to an end, Real Madrid are looking to pull off a stunning exchange of star players with Chelsea.

Another midfielder could also leave Real Madrid as he courts interest from Arsenal. And the biggest, baddest midfielder of them all — Yaya Toure — wants to keep terrorising defences in the Premier League, just maybe not for Manchester City.

Real Madrid to trade James Rodriguez for Chelsea winger Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard has been the subject of much speculation and reported interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid. Although a contract running till 2020 and the Blues’ unwillingness to let the Belgian winger go seems to have put off the potential buyers, Real may have come up with a spectacular idea to get their man.

Los Blancos are willing to trade with Chelsea, offering them Colombian sensation James Rodriguez in exchange for the services of Hazard, according to the Sun. Rodriguez is just 24 years old and was a transfer target for the Blues after his heroics in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Real snatched him up from AS Monaco for 70 million pounds though, and that’s almost as much as Chelsea are expecting to get if they sell Hazard.

Both of the young players have not had the best of seasons, and a move to a different league could appeal to either one of them. If it appeals to both, then we could see a player exchange like the ones seen in fantasy football this summer.

Arsenal court Real Madrid and Germany midfielder

Midfielder Toni Kroos is a wanted man in Europe, and it seems he has already received offers from some of the top clubs. According to Spanish publication AS, Kroos has received an offer to join Arsenal FC, among other teams, and had a positive response to the proposal.

Kroos could address a long-term problem for the Gunners, as he could slot into central midfield, an area where they have been severely lacking for the past few seasons. Kroos has excellent passing abilities and vision, along with being adept at dictating play from the middle of the park. However, it remains to be seen if Arsenal will shell out the 50 million euro transfer fee that the German World Cup winner will probably command.

Yaya Toure wants to stay in the Premier League

34-year-old Ivorian Yaya Toure may not be the force that he once was, but he still packs enough of a punch to be counted among the top midfielders in the world. He was integral to the rise of Manchester City in the Premier League, but the imminent arrival of Pep Guardiola has made things a bit complicated.

Toure reportedly doesn’t share the best of relationships with Guardiola, and could be looking to move away from the Etihad Stadium in the summer. However, it looks like Toure would prefer to stay in the Premier League and could sign up for one of Manchester City’s rivals.

“Yaya and the family are very happy in the UK, they enjoy living here and see no reason to change,” a source told the Mirror.

“Also, Yaya has extended family here including brothers [elder sibling Kolo plays for Liverpool] and sisters.”

Marc-Andre ter Stegen unhappy at Barcelona, looking for a way out

23-year-old German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen currently plays second fiddle to Chile International Claudio Bravo at Barcelona. Ter Stegen plays for the Blaugrana in their cup ties, but Bravo is the first choice keeper in La Liga. This lack of playing time has prompted Ter Stegen to consider a move away from Camp Nou.

“I want to give everything I can there. Until the end of the season there is a long way to go. We don’t know what will happen afterwards. This is football, and we will see how it goes,” said Ter Stegen, according to goal.com

“I don’t want to be called Barca’s future goalkeeper.”

There would be no dearth of suitors for the goalkeeper if he should choose to leave, with Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United rumoured to be interested.
