South American sensation Yaser Asprilla’s agent has dismissed reports linking his client with a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
Yaser Asprilla has made quite a name for himself on the back of an impressive season with Watford in the Championship. His performances have resulted in a lot of interest and multiple top clubs have been linked with the Colombian international.
While Watford haven’t managed to secure promotion, Asprilla has been one of the major positives for them this season. The 20-year-old has established himself as a regular in the first team and he has managed to contribute towards 14 goals ( 6 goals, 8 assists).
Asprilla’s contract with the Championship club runs out next summer and he has put himself on the radar of some big clubs ahead of the summer transfer window. Arsenal are one of the clubs that have been linked with the Colombian international.
Jonathan Restrepo’s take on links with Arsenal
While his arrival could bolster their squad significantly given the number of positions he can feature in, the player’s agent Jonathan Restrepo has dismissed such reports while talking on El VBar Caracol.
Resptreop said via Caracol Radio: “Arsenal has never asked me a question. These are things that the media is putting out,”
The 20-year-old sensation’s agent has acknowledged the fact that there is a lot of interest in his services and clubs from the Premier League want to sign him. But, It seems the Gunners are not one of the clubs pushing for his services as they have never enquired about Asprilla’s services.
Since the Colombian can feature anywhere in attack and will only get better with time, clubs will most likely knock on Watford’s door in the summer. With only a year left on his contract, the Championship club won’t have the upper hand in negotiations. They will either have to renew his deal or negotiate his departure to raise funds.
While there is a possibility of a departure in the summer with multiple clubs’ interest, the agent has made it clear that the player will only make a move when they think the project will help the Watford attacking sensation further develop his game.
