Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Fenerbahce midfielder Sebastian Szymanski this summer.
According to recent reports, Tottenham are keeping tabs on the 25-year-old attacking midfielder and it will be interesting to see if they decide to make a move for him.
There have been rumours that Tottenham have made their move to sign the player, but his agent Mariusz Piekarski has now issued an update on his client’s future. He revealed that the 25-year-old is yet to receive any offer from Tottenham and the Polish International may continue at Fenerbahce beyond this summer as well.
“I don’t know anything about Tottenham’s offer for Seb. It’s a journalistic duck. As of today, Szymański is staying at Fenerbahçe. It is possible that nothing will change in this case. We have no pressure at all to transfer,” he said to Meczyki.
The midfielder had an impressive start at the Turkish club since joining them last summer. He picked up 13 goals and 19 assists in all competitions. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham make their move to sign him. They could certainly use a quality midfielder like him. They were overly dependent on James Maddison for creativity and goals from the central areas. The England international midfielder needs more support and signing Szymanski could prove to be a wise decision.
Szymanski would be a quality addition
The midfielder is likely to cost around €25-30 million this summer and Tottenham certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal done. They will need to improve their squad if they are serious about challenging for major trophies. They will look to get back into the UEFA Champions League as well.
The 25-year-old midfielder certainly has the physical and technical attributes to do well in English football and he could establish himself as a key player for the North London club.
Meanwhile, the Turkish outfit will probably hope to hold onto their midfield talent and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be quite exciting for the midfielder and he could be tempted to join Spurs if the opportunity presents itself.
