Sean Dyche comments on rumours of Tottenham talks

Former Everton boss Sean Dyche has ruled out the possibility of joining Tottenham amidst uncertainty around Igor Tudor’s future.

Following the sacking of Thomas Frank, Tottenham appointed Igor Tudor to help steady the ship. The Croat was handed a deal until the end of the season, giving him the chance to prove himself while also allowing the club time to assess other potential targets.

Unfortunately, things have not worked out in their favour as things have gone from bad to worse, and the North London club are now considering parting ways with him during the ongoing international break. Sean Dyche has emerged as a potential replacement.

The former Everton boss has been actively linked with the job, but he has poured cold water on the rumours while speaking on talkSPORT.

Dyche is not in talks with Spurs

Sean Dyche was recently pictured enjoying a pint at a North London pub, and it resulted in a lot of rumours. It led to social media assuming he was in town to hold talks with Spurs regarding the managerial position. The 54-year-old was quizzed about it while he was in the studios of talkSPORT on Saturday.

He laughed and said, “That’s brilliant. Honestly, I was in a pub just up the way, near my place I’ve got down there. And this guy goes: ‘Oh, you’re meant to be in talks with Spurs’. And I said: ‘Well, I’m sat next to you having a pint of Guinness –  it’s unlikely.

“I said: ‘Unless you work for Spurs, and they’re at The Seven Stars Pub having a pint of Guinness, it’s highly unlikely! [I said] No, I’m not. I’m with you, mate. And I’m on talkSPORT. That’s what I’m doing’.”

Tottenham could sack Igor Tudor

Igor Tudor was handed the reins of the North London club in mid-February. Since taking charge, he has led them in five Premier League games. Spurs lost the first four matches before playing out a draw last time out. On the back of these results, they are 17th on the table and only a point clear of the drop zone.

With just seven games to go, they are under serious threat of getting relegated. Tudor could end up losing his job before the end of the season; the club is internally discussing that possibility.

Sean Dyche was linked with the job because of his track record of helping clubs survive the drop. The English tactician has a knack for securing results in crunch situations, and he is also available to work, having been sacked by Nottingham Forest back in February.

While he is an interesting option, reports have suggested the Spurs have been in talks with him. Dyche has shut down the rumours with his response. He seems to have closed the door on a move to the North London club in the near future.
