Sandro Tonali insists he is happy at Newcastle United amid Arsenal, Real Madrid links

Sandro Tonali insisted he is happy at Newcastle United and cleared up the rumours of a bust-up with manager Eddie Howe.

Sandro Tonali stated he is happy at Newcastle United amid rumours of an exit and a bust-up with manager Eddie Howe. The midfielder also went on to explain the latter point through comments, while the news of him being content at St James Park will come as a blow to some of his high-profile suitors.

Sandro Tonali made headlines on the deadline day of the January window when Arsenal had surprising links to the midfielder. While those rumours were quickly rebuffed by Newcastle United and the Gunners, his agent also refuted those links.

Tonali is still being linked with a move away from St James Park, with reports stating he could push for an exit if Newcastle United do not make it to the Champions League next season. Arsenal are still interested, while a host of other Premier League teams are also keen.

Real Madrid are also interested in Tonali as an option, but the midfielder is seemingly content with life at Newcastle United. The midfielder is reportedly happy at the moment and may not be pushing for a move, as fans may have to take the news with a pinch of salt.

However, there were further rumours of a bust-up with manager Eddie Howe, which the midfielder clarified with his celebrations with the boss. The midfielder, who joined in a £55 million deal in 2023, put in a solid display at the weekend against Aston Villa and went straight to his manager after scoring the second goal, as his comments in The Chronicle, cleared up those lingering rumours of a bust-up.

Tonali said, “After the second goal, I came to Eddie (Howe) because in the past few weeks, people spoke about our relationship, but I work every day with the gaffer, the gaffer works every day with me, and our relationship is perfect. It’s not broken, and I think this is perfect for the team.”

While the £55 million Newcastle United star claimed he is happy at the club, the reality might be slightly different from what it seems. The lack of Champions League football next season could see the midfielder change tunes, as the likes of Arsenal or Real Madrid, among other teams, will be alert.

Newcastle United will demand significantly to sell Tonali, which could see them make a huge profit on he midfielder. For now, the Italian will be focused on helping the club finish the season strongly as well as perform well in other competitions, as he will then evaluate his future in the summer.
