Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin has struggled for regular game time since joining the North London club.
Radu Dragusin has not been able to hold down a regular starting spot, and there have been rumours of a potential exit. However, the player’s agent has now revealed (h/t Tutto Mercato Web) that they are not considering a move away from the club in January.
“It’s an honor for Radu to be wanted by teams like Napoli and Juve, but at the moment they are just rumors. We are focused on Tottenham, he still has 5 years left on his contract. It’s not easy to go to a top club and make an impact right away, he’s still 22 years old. If he never plays this year it’s normal that other evaluations will be made: he won’t move in January, in June we’ll evaluate.”
Dragusin is set to stay at Tottenham and fight for his place. It will be interesting to see if he can convince Ange Postecoglou to give him more opportunities in the coming months. There is no doubt that he is a talented player with a bright future. He will need more opportunities at this stage of his career. Sitting on the bench at Tottenham is unlikely to benefit him.
Tottenham must give him more chances
The Romanian international could be an important player for Tottenham with the right guidance. He showed his quality in Italian football before the €30 million move to England. The fact that the defender is not keen on an exit from the club in January will certainly come as a boost for Tottenham.
Spurs are already lacking in depth in the central defensive unit, and they cannot afford to lose the Romanian midway through the season. They will need to sign a quality replacement before letting him leave. The player has been linked with a return to Italy in recent months.
Multiple Serie A clubs are keeping tabs on his situation, and it will be interesting to see if they decide to make a move for him in the near future. The talented young defender has plenty of time to get his career back on track, and he could be an asset for most clubs. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can get the best out of him.
