Mikel Arteta urged Arsenal to back him in the January window as he seeks a pivotal signing to bolster a probable title challenge ahead.
Mikel Arteta will have learned his lessons from what happened last January. Many Gunners fans blame the club’s inactivity in that window for their demise in the top-four race. Arsenal got pipped by arch-rivals Tottenham to the coveted Champions League spot, but Arteta does not want to repeat the error.
They might have played in the Champions League if Arsenal had signed a decent midfielder and striker in the window. Alternatively, fans think had Arsenal signed a forward in January; they might not have been in a position to sign Gabriel Jesus in the summer.
While theories contradict and evolve, there are far too many things ahead for Arsenal, especially with the January window approaching. Arteta would undoubtedly like to remain at the summit of the Premier League.
Arsenal remains linked with players to improve their squad ahead of the January window. Arteta wants a new winger and central midfielder to improve their chances in the second half of the season. Mykhaylo Mudryk is one of the names linked with a big move to the Emirates, although others like Yeremy Pino and Noah Okafor are on their shortlist.

While Arteta has remained coy on a possible push for the Premier League title, the Arsenal boss hinted they are thinking along the lines. His quotes on Fabrizio Romano’s tweet suggest Arteta is taking the position and the challenge seriously. He also urged the club to back him in the transfer market.

The position which Arteta refers to could be the wide attacking areas. Ideally, he would like two signings to cover for Bykayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Reiss Nelson is a good option for Saka; the focus will be on the left flank.
Then again, he suggests needing a player to improve the levels. One can only think of Mudryk or even Rafael Leao, who has links to the Premier League.
