Manchester United were made to toil on Tuesday night but somehow overcame a determined Hull City side, thanks to second-half goals from Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini.
The Red Devils go into the away leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals with a brilliant opportunity to make their first final under Jose Mourinho, as they travel to face the Tigers with a 2-0 lead from the first leg.
As was aptly pointed out, it looks like the Red Devils can’t stop winning.

People hailed Jose Mourinho after United recorded their ninth win in a row
Say what you like about his time at other clubs, but Jose Mourinho was made for Manchester United.
He just gets it.

Selling Juan Mata to United because he knew he’d eventually be our manager was one of Jose Mourinho’s all-time managerial masterstrokes.

But, it was Juan Mata, who took the plaudits, as he scored United’s opener at a time when the fixture looked to heading towards a frustrating draw.

Mata is irreplaceable for #mufc at the moment, the little fella never has a bad game, contributes massively all the time, and always scores

Mata’s performances this term after everyone assumed JM was going to bin him off definitely one of the best aspects of the season so far.

Juan Mata’s having a wonderful season. Such an underrated player. He’s one for the big moments who keeps popping up with huge goals/assists.

The only positive from David Moyes’ era, Juan Mata.

Juan Mata never lets you down.

The other goalscorer, Fellaini, who has received his fair share of criticism, was also on the receiving end of positive stuff, with the fans especially praising the moment when he went and hugged Mourinho after scoring the goal.
I’ve not been a Fellaini fan but it was hard not to be on his side when he ran 40 yards to embrace Mourinho. Lots of love there.

Don’t we all want someone to hold us the way Mourinho holds Fellaini… pic.twitter.com/PKwXbVxJfy

Fellaini clearly appreciates Jose’s trust in him. #Passion
This man truly plays for the shirt. pic.twitter.com/gcqefZSBzf

Hate Fellaini all you want but that embrace with Mourinho epitomises the spirit in the team under Jose Mourinho. Us against the world again.

Fellaini deserves that, hated it when the Utd fans booed him against Tottenham, every Utd player should be backed.
— UtdWay (@UtdWay) January 10, 2017
Loads of love for Fellaini in the stadium as Mourinho hugs him.
