Manchester United cruised to an emphatic victory at Old Trafford even as Wayne Rooney endured a frustrating time with Everton.

Quality goals from Antonio Valencia, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial helped ensure Wayne Rooney endured a frustrating return to Manchester United following his sensational summer move to Everton. Although there was a chance for Rooney to equalize later, David De Gea ensured the shot stayed out.

The Red Devils, however, will be happy to have gotten back to winning ways in the Premier League after last weekend’s draw at Stoke. United sealed the victory with a fantastic goal from right-back Antonio Valencia that surely has to be a contender for the goal of the season.

They found the next goal tougher to find but eventually the pressure was too much for Everton and they caved in. Ronald Koeman’s side clearly lacked the ambition and seemed tactically weak against an in-form United squad. The Hard Tackle takes a look at some of the best tweets about the exciting game.

Fans also took to Twitter to express their approval over Valencia’s stellar goal.

Meanwhile, the much talked-about return of Wayne Rooney to Old Trafford was extremely forgettable for the former Red Devil. Having said that, he was received warmly by the crowd – a sight that could make the coldest of hearts melt a bit.
