The Manchester United defence was in shambles again as Tottenham capitalised on a poor second-half showing to hand the home side a crushing 3-0 defeat.
Jose Mourinho emphasised that the Manchester United players could not afford to repeat the mistakes they committed against Brighton. It only took them 45 minutes though, to defy their manager, with some clueless defensive positioning.
All 3 goals could be chalked down to either positional errors or errors of judgement from the Manchester United defenders. Nevertheless, Twitter was full of angry supporters after the crushing 0-3 scoreline, with trolls out in full force.
Brighton up Manchester United fans…. This is only the beginning

One thing is for certain: Manchester United are in crisis mode. The club can brief what they want, but results speak louder and some players look like they have totally given up playing for Mourinho.

Mourinho may have issues of trust with his players at Manchester United, but there have been failings for years up the chain of command. Those at the very top need to assess their failings too. Man City look untouchable after being just the noisy neighbours. #MUNTOT #MUFC

This is the lowest point since David Moyes for Manchester United.

Manchester United now have a worse goal difference than Cardiff who haven’t scored a goal since April.

Manchester United have not been the same since Alexis Sanchez played that Piano in January.

Mourinho bore the brunt of the defeat.
Mourinho idea of football is to defend deep then kick and follow.
Football has gone beyond that and in essence the new managers have left him behind.

Some very questionable decisions from Mourinho tonight: Herrera at centre back and bringing on Fellaini over Rashford. Hard to defend a manager when he’s doing that. Players don’t look like they are fighting for him at all.

Dear god,
Please sack Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho at Man Utd:
1st Season: Buy a £400m bus.
2nd Season: Park the bus.
3rd Season: Crash the bus. pic.twitter.com/beOU3AhEq5— Footy Humour (@FootyHumour) August 27, 2018
The manager got a lot of support though, surprisingly.
I STAND WITH JOSE MOURINHO ✊?✊?

Reminder: Ed Woodward thought none of the defenders on Mourinho’s wish list were better than Smalling, Jones and Lindelöf. That is all.

My love for Mourinho just trippled. Good leader/manager. He went to the Stretford End to applaud the fans who stayed till the end. They all applauded back. It was nice to see. He’s hurt, but you’ve got the feeling he’s ready to fight like crazy. #MUNTOT #PL #GGMU

Mourinho, with a United scarf under his arm, applauds the Stretford End crowd who sing his name after a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham. That’s support. pic.twitter.com/651qV4BhpK
