Luke Shaw has hailed Manchester United summer signing Cristiano Ronaldo for instilling a ‘second to none’ mentality within the club since arriving.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, as relayed by Goal, Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has lavished praise on superstar teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, hailing him for his mentality.
Ronaldo arrived at Manchester United this past summer, returning to Old Trafford 12 years after he had left back in 2009. Since signing up, the 36-year-old has been the Red Devils’ best player in a short time, scoring vital goals that has helped the team stay close to the top of the table despite some poor results.
Ronaldo, so far, has found the back of the net on five occasions in six games for Manchester United. In fact, such has been his impact that Ronaldo was named the Premier League Player of the Month for September.
While there have been some critics who have voiced their concerns over his return, Ronaldo’s teammate, Luke Shaw, has been left heavily impressed by the 36-year-old. The left-back, who has been on a resurgent run since last year, praised the veteran forward for the change in mentality that he had brought about at the club.
? “He’s definitely raised the levels.”
? “It’s only good for us as teammates to be surrounded by someone like that.”
? “Everywhere he goes he wins because of his standard. We need to equal his standards.”

“You know the star he is, what he has been doing over a number of years, it is just unbelievable to be in a dressing room with him. You see the way he conducts himself, how professional he is. It’s clear to me why he has been at the top for so many years. His mentality is second to none. I think he has really improved that in and around the changing room,” Shaw said.
While the results have suffered just prior to the international break, Ronaldo will be crucial to Manchester United’s ambitions this season. Given his track record and proven pedigree at the highest level, he can be the difference-maker for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer & co. in the ongoing campaign.
Manchester United have a tough run of fixtures once club football takes centre stage after the international break. Games against the likes of Leicester City, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and a double-header in the Champions League against Atalanta await the 20-time English champions. How Ronaldo performs in those games could be crucial to where United find themselves in the standings.
