West Ham United defender Luizao has been linked with a return to Brazil, and his agent has now fuelled further speculations surrounding his future.
The 22-year-old defender has struggled for regular game time at the London club and his agent has confirmed that multiple clubs from Brazil have enquired about his situation. However, they are yet to come forward with an official proposal to sign the player.
The Hammers are ready to send him out on loan with an option to buy. It will be interesting to see if any club will come forward and get the deal done. Previously, the player was linked with Internacional, Gremio, and Bahia. However, the player’s agent has now confirmed that he will favour a move to Internacional if they come forward with an official proposal.
Wagner Trentin revealed to Revista Colorada: “We’ve had enquiries from various clubs in Brazil, including Inter [Internacional]. But we don’t have anything official from any club, just enquiries about interest and salary. Today West Ham are loaning him out with an option to buy.
“But who wouldn’t want to play for Inter? Today we’re more for the clubs than for ourselves. Inter actually approached us in the last window and didn’t make a move, there was another preference. But we’re open, if Inter make it official we won’t waste any time.”
Can Internacional get a deal done?
The comments from the defender’s agent will certainly serve as a major encouragement for the Brazilian club. It will be interesting to see if they decide to act on their interest and submit an official offer to sign the defender.
The 22-year-old was highly rated in South America when he moved to England, but the transfer has not worked out for him. A return to his comfort zone could be ideal for him. Internacional could certainly use defensive reinforcements and Luizao would be a quality addition for them.
Given his situation at the London club, he could be available for a reasonable amount of money as well. The deal could be beneficial for all parties involved.
