Louis Saha believes Cristiano Ronaldo will keep scoring goals irrespective of which league or system he plays in, claiming the Portuguese is ‘an alien’.
Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United amid much fanfare. He reminded the supporters of the glory days under Alex Ferguson when the club won three consecutive Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League, among other honours. The fans sensed the Portuguese attacking powerhouse might bring success back to Old Trafford with his arrival.
Ronaldo has lived upon his promise of scoring plenty of goals and has duly delivered so far. Recently, he scored both of the goals for Manchester United in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Atalanta while scoring a late winner against the same team a few weeks back at Old Trafford. After the recent midweek clash, Solskjaer compared his impact to that of Michael Jordan for Chicago Bulls.
While Ronaldo continues to post staggering numbers at the age of 36, Manchester United are struggling to keep their feet on the ground. Losing to Liverpool 5-0 at Old Trafford was their lowest point of this season, although they did make rectifications with a comfortable win over Tottenham last weekend.
However, many have questioned the Portuguese attacker over his style, pressing among other things, particularly when Manchester United suffered defeats to Leicester City and Liverpool.
Now, Ronaldo’s ex- Manchester United colleague, Louis Saha, has called him anything but complacent. The former French international described Ronaldo as ‘an alien’ while claiming the he will keep scoring goals wherever he plays. Mundo Deportivo posted Saha’s comments on the 36-year-old.
Saha said, “Solskjaer has to be very happy with his return, because he is an alien. He can play in any team or league and he will always score goals. He has that dedication and sacrifice that nobody else has. And if there is a player with influence in the world, it is Cristiano Ronaldo.”
Saha was later questioned regarding his time together with Ronaldo at Manchester United, to which the former striker commented by calling the Portuguese a ‘machine’.
Saha continued, “My relationship with him was easy because we were both hard workers. If you don’t like him as a partner it’s because you’re not a worker, it’s that simple. It’s impossible to defend him. After 90 minutes you feel that he can still do it. score a goal and if he has to score five in a game he does it. He’s a machine!”
Despite Ronaldo’s goals, Manchester United’s struggles are not becoming a thing of the past quickly and the former Real Madrid ace will be eager to set things right in the weeks and months to come. However, on an individual level, there is no stopping him right now.
