A late Gareth McAuley goal saw Liverpool miss out on the chance to go top of the table on goal-difference on Saturday. Nevertheless, it was a comfortable 2-1 victory for the Reds in the league as they returned to winning ways after being held to a draw against Manchester United last week.
The Reds finally managed to do away with their Tony Pulis curse by dispatching West Brom on Saturday. The final score-line doesn’t provide a fair reflection of the proceedings as Ben Foster put up an inspired showing to prevent Liverpool from further increasing their lead on the night.
Adam Lallana returned to the starting XI along with James Milner. While a return for Georginio Wijnaldum was expected, Klopp chose not to rush him back from injury and opted to bring him on later in the game as a substitute. Emre Can filled in for the Dutchman on the night.

Philippe Coutinho was arguably Liverpool’s player of the evening after the Brazilian facilitated numerous opportunities for his side. But for Ben Foster, the Reds should have easily been 5 or 6 goals to the good on the evening.
What a goal. Coutinho is having a marvellous season, turning into 1 of the league’s finest attackers. Above all criticism since a while now.

Despite the amount of monstrosity’s that we’ve signed, Coutinho and Matip for a combined £8.5m is extraordinary.

A late Gareth Mcauley goal did well to have nerves jangling across Anfield as the final 10 minutes witnessed some end-to-end football where Liverpool failed to take their chances while West Brom pranced dangerously towards theirs. However, the Reds held on to go joint top of the table with Arsenal.
Liverpool temporarily top of the league, and Milan beat Juve in what has been a season of dreams so far.
Great to see these 2 giants back.
