Liverpool fans took to social media to express their shock at rumours linking Nathaniel Clyne with a big money move to Manchester City.
The Reds’ faithful were dealt a rude shock on Thursday morning when reports surfaced claiming that Manchester City were plotting an audacious £35 million bid for star right-back Nathaniel Clyne. The 25-year-old has been a regular campaigner for Liverpool since his £12 million move from Southampton in the summer of 2015.
The England international has been with the Reds for a little over a year and he has already featured in a staggering 64 games which throws light on his stamina, measure of consistency and of course, his importance to this Liverpool team. Hence, the Anfield faithful were understandably dismayed by claims from unreliable sources that cited a potential January move for Clyne.
Let me be blunt on Nathaniel Clyne
He’s the best right back in the league. Him & Babbel a league of there own in my lifetime.
Not for sale

Honestly wouldn’t sell Clyne under and circumstances. City could offer £50m and I still wouldn’t. No point. We wouldn’t be able to replace.

Please keep in mind that before we signed Clyne, we had to endure the pain of watching Glen Johnson play at RB. We CANNOT sell Clyne.

Clyne to City would hurt. More consistent than any #LFC player & has been a superb signing. If he was foreign he’d be far more highly-rated.

Wouldn’t sell Clyne for any money, our most consistent player since we signed him #LFC

Where are these Clyne to City rumours coming from?
— Billy Liddell (@Liddellpool) October 27, 2016
Clyne appears to be in demand. Linked with Barcelona and Man City in the same day pic.twitter.com/v8PE1ohFPN

While most supporters ridiculed the speculation linking Clyne with a move out of Merseyside, there were a selective few who decided to look at the monetary gains instead. And it’d be fair to say that from then on they became the veritable punching bags for all passionate Reds on social media.
I hope you have a great weekend unless you want Liverpool to sell Nathaniel Clyne, in which case I hope you stub your toe and get a papercut
— Ste Hoare (@stehoare) October 27, 2016
If you’re an #LFC fan who’s happy to see Nathaniel Clyne leave, I despair.
You no doubt put milk in first when you make a cup of tea, too.

It’s a nonsense link anyway but if you’d sell Nathaniel Clyne you’re a massive wool.

How can #lfc fans even entertain the idea of selling Clyne because we’d get god money? That too to Man City?
