Jadon Sancho has been linked with a return to his former club, Borussia Dortmund, and the managing director of the Bundesliga club has confirmed their interest in the player.
Lars Ricken, the managing director at Borussia Dortmund, have revealed that the Bundesliga giants are keen on re-signing Jadon Sancho once he leaves Manchester United as a free agent after the 2025/26 season.
Lars Ricken has revealed (h/t Sky Sports): “We’re currently looking at a lot of players and analysing them closely. We check whether they can make us better. We’re doing that with Jadon as well.”
The 26-year-old needs a fresh start at the end of the season, and returning to Germany could be ideal for him. The Englishman played his best football with Borussia Dortmund, and the move to the Premier League has not worked out for him, with spells with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Aston Villa not yielding the desired results.
Sancho’s contract with Manchester United expires at the end of June, and a renewal is not on the cards. He is currently on loan at Aston Villa, but the move to the West Midlands club has not worked out either. The Villans are unlikely to sign him permanently at the end of the season, and it remains to be seen whether Sancho returns to Dortmund.
The versatile English attacker knows the league and the club well. He will be able to settle in quickly and make an immediate impact. The Manchester United flop is very much at the peak of his powers, and he could regain his form and confidence in Germany once again. Re-signing the player for free transfer will be quite attractive for the Bundesliga outfit as well.
Jadon Sancho stats at Borussia Dortmund vs Manchester United vs Chelsea vs Aston Villa
- Matches: 158 vs 81 vs 41 vs 31
- Goals: 53 vs 12 vs 5 vs 1
- Assists: 67 vs 6 vs 10 vs 3
Sancho will be desperate to get his career back on track. The Englishman was regarded as one of the finest young attacking talents in world football when he arrived at Manchester United. However, he has never really managed to adapt to English football properly.
The 26-year-old was quite underwhelming at Old Trafford, and his loans at Chelsea and Aston Villa have been mediocre as well. The player will look to put the Premier League nightmare behind him and make a fresh start now. He has plenty of time to get his career back on track and regain his peak form. Joining the right team could bring out the best in him once again.
