Kevin Campbell believes interim manager Ralf Rangnick has a big task to improve Manchester United amid some worrying stats from November.

Manchester United fans will be desperately hoping the team improves drastically under interim manager Ralf Rangnick after his appointment was confirmed earlier this week. The German coach only sorted his work permit issues earlier today but will not manage his new team from the dugout against Arsenal.

However, he will be taking the next sessions as manager and will be in charge during the next clash against Crystal Palace. His reputation precedes him and Manchester United fans will hope he improves the team in the short term and get them out of the slump they are in currently.

While experienced heads like Harry Redknapp criticised the club for the appointment, the majority still believes Rangnick is the right man for the job. However, the task he has at hand to better the team is huge, especially given Manchester United’s statistics from November.

Manchester United were shot-shy after failing to win any of their games in the Premier League in November. The Red Devils attempted only 17 shots, which is the fewest of all teams in the division while allowing opposition sides to take 60 attempts, which incidentally is the highest in the league.

Among the two defeats was the loss to Watford, which cost Ole Gunnar Solskjaer his job. The Norwegian insisted the club are in good shape in his exit interview with the club, although there’s plenty of work to be done in hindsight.

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell certainly believes the same. He told Football Insider how the club needs massive improvements in the short term and that Rangnick will have to dig his heels to get them going.

Campbell said, “Those stats do not ring well. It just goes to show why Man United have had to get an interim manager in midway through the season. These are things that need to be sorted out. They need to be addressed immediately. Rangnick has to get to work straight away.

“He has a big job on his hands. It is alarming that it is happening like that for Manchester United. There is a lot of work that needs to be done there, that’s for sure.”

Manchester United will have an opportunity to make amends when they meet Arsenal later today. It’s a chance for their beleaguered stars to show the new manager a positive response and then build from there for the rest of the season.
