Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has outlined January transfer plans at Anfield.

As quoted by 90min, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has opened up on the Reds’ plans for the upcoming January transfer window.

The Merseyside outfit are slowly getting their campaign back on track after a poor start to the season. A comfortable 3-1 win over Southampton at Anfield rounded off the first half of the campaign as club football takes a back seat thanks to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

However, with the January transfer window just around the corner, clubs will be looking to speed up their recruitment processes and also perhaps use the World Cup stage as an audition of sorts. Liverpool are no different and appear set to dive into the market.

The Reds rarely place bids in the winter window but have landed themselves some real bangers when they have done so. The likes of Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho, Virgil van Dijk, and Luis Diaz all arrived in the winter and have had a serious impact on the club.

Klopp has now admitted that while the Reds could dip into the market, they will only do so if the circumstances are right. It would appear that even in potentially their final months at Anfield, FSG will stick to the principles they always have.

“We are always open to these kind of things, but we don’t have to open that discussion.”

Liverpool will welcome back Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz once club football resumes, while Darwin Nunez is also finding his feet. With players better settled, Klopp and co. can go all out in the second half of the campaign and work their way back into Premier League title reckoning.

“If there’s something possible for us, we will do it.”

The midfield, however, cannot be ignored irrespective of whether Arthur Melo regains his fitness or not. The lack of dynamism in the middle of the park has seen the formation ripped apart at times, and something has got to give.

Whether it be van Dijk or Diaz, bringing in a difference-maker in January has worked well for Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. Having worked their way back into the top six, the Reds now have to push home the momentum and do what is needed to salvage their season.
