Jurgen Klopp addresses Erling Haaland to Liverpool speculations

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has recently opened up on the speculations surrounding Erling Haaland.

During an interview with SportBild, as translated by Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp has offered his thoughts on the future of Erling Haaland. The Liverpool manager believes that the Norweigian is a force of nature and Borussia Dortmund will have to brace themselves for a number of offers for him in the future.

The German tactician is quite aware of the difficulties of keeping hold of star players every season, having coached Borussia Dortmund for seven years. During his time at Ruhrpott, he had to part ways with key players such as Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze and Ivan Perisic.

Klopp now believes that Dortmund can face another battle to keep hold of Haaland this time. “There is of course a danger with such an extraordinary talent,” he told Bild when asked about Haaland.

“The boy is a force of nature. When he celebrated a goal, he hit the ball on the ground, so I wasn’t sure if there was a dent in the ground.  Sooner or later he will be in discussion with large clubs. I don’t know if that will be the case next year, but then Dortmund will have to counter it.”

Formerly RB Salzburg, Haaland has indeed attracted the interest of most across Europe. Chelsea and Manchester City were priced out of a move this time around but will surely come back for him next summer. The same can be said for Real Madrid, who even reportedly have a deal in place for the Norwegian to join next season.

Klopp, though, remained coy when asked about Liverpool’s interest in the Norwegian. He said: “I don’t have his number! He’s just a very interesting player. I really like the energy he brings to the pitch. But he would generally be watched by most of the teams.”

At the same time, the German tactician also offered the young striker some advice on improving his game. “If a goal is scored at the back, something has already been done wrong at the front. He should also think about that in such situations. But he is still young and can still develop,” he added.

Haaland has been doing himself a lot of favours for him and Dortmund by starting the new season quite well. He has already been involved in five goals in two Bundesliga matches while netting a hat-trick in the DFB Pokal win over Wehen Wiesbaden. He will be in action once again when Die Schwarzgelben take on TSG Hoffenheim next weekend.
