Jermaine Jenas would take Yves Bissouma, James Maddison over Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas has now heaped praise on Yves Bissouma and James Maddison.

Both players have been quite impressive for Tottenham this season and Jenas believes that they are better than the Arsenal duo Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard.

Spurs have recently played out a 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the North London derby and the likes of Maddison and Bissouma were quite impressive for their team. While Bissouma did well to protect the central defenders and break up the opposition attacks, Maddison chipped in with two important assists that helped Spurs get back into the game after conceding twice.

Tottenham Hotspur signed Maddison during the summer transfer window to add creativity and goals to their midfield. The 26-year-old has hit the ground running and he has been a key player for Ange Postecoglou so far.

Jenas has claimed on Talksport that the Tottenham midfielder will easily end up with more goals and assists than Odegaard this season. The Norwegian international had an impressive campaign last year scoring 15 goals and picking up 8 assists in the league. It will be interesting to see if Maddison can outperform him this season.

“I like Odegaard, massively, and I think he had an unbelievable season last year,” the former Spurs man said. “It’s going to be interesting to see at the end of this year because they have a specific job those two players [Maddison and Odegaard] and it’s about goals and assists.

“What are they bringing to the table in terms of goals and assists? And I don’t think you’d sit there right now and say ‘I bet you 100 per cent Odegaard’s going to get more goals and assists than Maddison’.”

Darren Bent then responded: “I’ll take that bet.”

“You want to take that? Okay,” Jenas added. “We’ll talk off air and we’ll have a bet.”

“We’ll do the football shirt thing, we’ll do something around the football shirts. But I can’t see that happening, I think Maddison will have easily, if not the same, more goals and assists than Odegaard.”

On the other hand, Bissouma had a disappointing season under Antonio Conte last season but he seems to have found a new lease of life under the new manager. The former Brighton ace has established himself as a top-class defensive midfielder for Tottenham this season and there is no doubt that he is a better player than Thomas Partey right now.

“I’ll take Partey out on the basis of what I’m seeing now. I’ll be honest with you, I think Bissouma is that good,” he told talkSPORT.

“I’m seeing the best of Bissouma right now. I think we all saw what he did in that second-half. And I rate Partey massively.”

It remains to be seen whether they can continue they are impressive run of form and help Spurs get back into the Champions League next season.
