Jamie Redknapp has urged Arsenal to keep hold of Gabriel Jesus after the Brazilian’s upturn in form, as the pundit believes in the forward’s ability.
Gabriel Jesus has been having a week of reconnaissance in an Arsenal shirt after he ended a well-publicised goal drought in an emphatic manner. The Brazilian has scored five goals in the last two games, and suddenly, he seems to be on song and not the player everyone thought he was since the start of the season.
Jesus had not scored a Premier League goal since late January of this year, which spanned across 23 Premier League games until Saturday. Away at Crystal Palace, he scored twice in the first half and should have scored a hat-trick only to miss some of the gilt-edged chances offered to him on a plate.
He did score a hat-trick against Palace in midweek in the cup, which had truly brought him back to his previous self. However, it is all about maintaining this form and helping Arsenal in their chances this season. But there are some links with moving away.
Jamie Redknapp has now urged Arsenal to keep hold of Gabriel Jesus for the time being and in the future, as his comments on Daily Mirror indicate there is some belief in the striker’s ability again.
Redknapp said, “That was a big result. In this last week they’ve realised they’ve got a player still at this club who can do a job and a really good job at that. It’s important he scores goals, he’s got to stay fit and if they get someone else in January, so be it, but just have him, a player who can start and effect games, or even come off the bench, is so important.”
Jesus has been linked with a move away following some abject performances this season, and without his goal, the team has been starved of a presence up front. Incidentally, the 27-year-old has been linked with Juventus, with Dusan Vlahovic a player of interest for the Gunners.
There have been some links with former side Palmeiras, although signing the Arsenal man will be a bit ambitious for their liking. However, given the upturn in late, the Gunners might have to take Redknapp’s comments in seriousness and keep him on board.
