Ian Wright reserves praise for Arsenal new boys Takehiro Tomiyasu and Aaron Ramsdale after their terrific start to life in north London.

Takehiro Tomiyasu was signed on deadline day after Arsenal let Hector Bellerin leave for Real Betis, and the Japan international has proved a shrewd addition. Posting steady statistics in his two games so far, the versatile defender has added solidity to the backline.

Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsdale energised the team with his presence between the posts and slowly becoming a fan favourite for his passion and grit. The former Sheffield United goalkeeper, who joined the club amid much criticism from the fanbase and pundits, has proved many of them wrong with three clean sheets in as many games.

Their form and performances have helped Arsenal get out of their recent slump and climb back into a respectable place on the table. However, there’s a long way to go in the current season, although these starts already prove their worth.

Ian Wright has spoken about Arsenal’s recent displays and positive results. The former striker reserved praise for two of the club’s new signings in Tomiyasu and Ramsdale.

Wright said, ‘It’s just that what we’ve done now is silenced a few, and the way we’ve silenced a few is we’ve made little changes. Ramsdale, distribution much better. [Ben] White and Gabriel [Magalhaes] are getting better in respects to the way they’re playing together Tomiyasu! I don’t think anyone has gone past him! Very shrewd signing. He has been magnificent.

‘Of course, the two games that we’ve played are games that you’d like to think that Arsenal playing well should win, and we have. The goalkeeper gives us that [allows Arsenal to settle], and it’s what Mikel wants. Everybody is playing; we’re more solid; nobody has gone past Tomiyasu yet.’

Arsenal certainly have improved since the last two games beating Norwich and Burnley, while the new signings have played a significant role in those victories. The Gunners face arch-rivals Tottenham next in the North London Derby, with many quarters of the Gunners’ fanbase predicting a win for their side.
