Dejan Lovren has penned a new long-term Liverpool contract to extend his stay at Melwood.

It hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for Dejan Lovren at Anfield. The player arrived with much expectation from Southampton but has had a mixed stint with Liverpool so far.

However, recently, his performances have improved – some credit may be due to his new central defensive partner Joel Matip. And while Liverpool may be looking to sign a centre-back in the summer to strengthen their depth in the position, Dejan Lovren has penned a new long-term deal to extend his stay at Liverpool till 2021.

Fans though were quick to ridicule the deal, especially with rumours floating that the player has penned a deal worth £100,000 per-week – an amount they thought was either undeserving of the quality of the player.

However, there were a couple of fans who put their faith behind Lovren and asked the other liverpool fans to do the same.
